(Coos Bay) – The 16th season of Bay Area Teen Idol is now underway with the launch of its online auditions and set closed audition dates. 

Coos and Western Douglas County Teens between the ages of 13 and 18 can now submit a 90 second video singing with their favorite karaoke to the Bay Area Teen Idol website (www.bayareateenidol.com). The public is invited to listen and vote for their favorite singers. Top vote-getters will receive places in the competition as well as prizes for winning. 

Producer Stephanie Kilmer says “We have been searching for a way to involve our already supportive community in the program.”  Voting will start May 1st Kilmer believes it is s great thing for everyone, “It’s an opportunity to play a part in selecting who could be the ultimate winner of the overall contest.”


The Bay Area Teen Idol program boasts the largest valued prize packages for any teen vocal competition on the Oregon coast, with first place receiving cash and gifts totaling over $2000. 


For those who prefer traditional auditions K-DOCK is also booking appointments  for closed auditions to fill additional places in the competition. 


Closed auditions take place May 10th and 13th at Egyptian Theatre located at 229 S. Broadway in Coos Bay and are by appointment. Call K-DOCK  at (541) 269-0929

For closed auditions, performers will be asked to audition with and without music that must be provided to the panel on a CD, thumb drive or cell phone.  They must also bring a filled-out entry and consent form that has been signed by a parent or legal guardian. 


Bay Area Teen Idol is a drug, alcohol and tobacco-free vocal competition for Coos County and Reedsport School District youth.  All contestants must pledge to be drug-free during the competition. The contest which begins July 6th features a variety of talent, from those with minimal performance experience to those who have vast experience.
